With “42things”, the Austrian e-commerce and e-commerce company niceshops has created an online store that has brought the startup scene more than 1.3 million euros in additional sales since its relaunch a good year ago. With more than 200 startups from 17 countries, it has become the largest such platform in Europe.
The e-commerce competence and logistics skills of niceshops form a perfect alliance with the innovative power of Austrian and international start-ups. Customers can find the latest product innovations from around the world on one portal and can purchase them conveniently and securely. Niceshops takes over complex online sales in 18 European countries, including the investment-intensive logistics. Startups can concentrate on further developing their products. The founder of the platform Christian Pitner: “I am happy to see that we have achieved our goal of supporting the international startup scene after only one year and that there is interest in buying various startups. Especially in the current volatile global economic situation, where many start-ups are struggling and some well-known bankruptcies have occurred, we are an important additional sales channel for many young companies.”
Multilingual: An impressive variety of global product innovations
The variety of product innovations that customers can access online with just a few clicks is impressive. More than 200 start-ups from Europe and around the world offer their innovative products on “42things” – from electronics, beauty and health, home and garden, food, fashion to leisure goods. The online store includes customer service in German, English, Italian and French.
Smart from Austria: From 3D printed salmon to smart plasters
Austrian startup Revo Foods, for example, uses 3D printing to produce synthetic salmon based on pea protein, thus offering an interesting ecological alternative.
One of the most prominent Austrian startups is Tractive, which uses a SIM card on a collar to enable live tracking for pets.
STEADYTEMP® has developed a smart clinical thermometer as a patch on the body for early and highly accurate detection of impending diseases. The medical product is primarily used in the clinical environment to reduce the workload of medical staff. CEO Werner Koele: “Working with 42things, we were also able to arouse the interest of end users and benefit greatly from their expertise in the field of e-commerce. 42things is currently our most successful B2C online sales partner and supports us in bringing our products to women and men across borders.”
From eco-friendly cleaning products to AI mobile videos
Pivo is a smart interactive floor from the US that turns your smartphone into a personal photographer. Artificial intelligence recognizes users and their movements and can thus automatically track them.
German startup Happybrush (of Lion’s Den fame) offers low-cost ultrasonic toothbrushes with microplastic-free toothpastes. Klaeny, also from Germany, sells sustainable cleaning products in the form of concentrated tablets that can be mixed with water. This brings great cost savings and protects the environment.
“Unit 1” from France has developed a smart bicycle helmet that improves safety with automatic brake lights, fall detection and light.
Niceshops makes its e-commerce know-how available to startups and established companies alike.
niceshops GmbH is an internationally active Austrian online retail and e-commerce company with headquarters in Saas, Styria, and locations in Graz and Vienna. The company operates about 40 different online stores with a total of 1.5 million active customers, which are served in 16 languages.
