Verdol – Police are investigating two students at Rizey’s Albert Einstein Comprehensive School for dangerous bodily harm: The students are said to have sprayed animal repellant spray – also commonly called pepper spray – in a classroom.
The incident caused quite a stir. Director Sven Stokes is also very upset by the action. 16-year-old and 17-year-old students can now suffer severe consequences.
Student denies the allegations
All this happened around 12 noon on Monday. “At least one denies the allegations,” Chief Inspector Marcel Dilling wrote. Two students (aged 15 and 17) and a teacher complained of a dry cough after the incident. “However, they did not require medical attention,” Dilling reports.
“No one was hurt”
Neither the two students nor the teacher had to leave class after the incident for health reasons. “No one was hurt,” emphasizes director Sven Stokes – and explains why the police were called in the first place:
The student does not want to empty his pockets
“The student who must have brought the spray didn’t want to empty his bag. However, teachers have no right to demand this against the student’s will.”However, one wanted to know who was responsible for the incident – and so informed the police, whose powers extend far beyond that of the college.
“As far as I know, only one student was at fault for the incident,” Stokes said. Eyewitnesses also told him that the young man probably did not press the spray button on purpose: “He must have brought the protective spray from home and was showing it off. He allegedly pressed the button briefly.
The principal is upset and announces the consequences
But even if there’s no intention behind it: This behavior will definitely have consequences at school. “Such bad jokes are not common here – and they are not tolerated.” It just can’t,” emphasizes the director.
A police investigation can also have serious consequences for the student concerned – dangerous bodily harm is no small matter. Police spokesman Marcel Dilling explains why this allegation is even raised: “If the crime was committed together, for example – and according to the report of colleagues we are investigating two students – dangerous bodily harm could be involved. This applies, for example, when using a dangerous tool such as an animal repellant spray.’
